You're reading...

These feelings don’t come with
An instruction kit
You flail around
You stumble about

That heart on your sleeve
Feels just about right
With that crimson on your cheeks
And things are wonderful, beautiful

You wake up to him beside you
The scent of him
Drowning everything else
And it is the best feeling in the world

Sunday, sitting side by side
Sharing coffee, trading jokes
And he’ll impart a trivia or two
You soak in his presence, his words and wit

This sudden shift between you two
Doesn’t come with
An instruction kit
You feel your way around the dark

Nights become longer
Days become intolerable
You never hear from him
You’re not sure you even want to

And just when you think
The heartbreak will swallow you whole,
You’ll get your footing
Back again, my dear

Don’t give up
Never give up
On yourself
On who you could become.
