So Just Don’t

I know there is no use
Glancing over my shoulder
Because I won’t find you
Walking after me

I don’t expect you to
But I know this heaviness
Lying so lazily, so heavily
On my shoulder won’t

Last forever, maybe just a bit
Too longer than I’d like
And I won’t even try to pretend
That this is not happening

I need to feel each step
I need to feel every hurt
When I lie awake at night
And when my mind wanders back to you

I’ll take it all in this time
There’s no sense running away
I need to face my fears
And that includes you

It includes the fact that this time
It is really done and over with.
