You're reading...

Muted and Iridiscent

I’ll throw the weight
Of words around and they
Will fall everywhere,
Muted but iridescent

You’ll throw your sarcasm
All around and it
Will fall on deaf ears and
A poker face — mine

Don’t you know? We
Have been jump-skipping
On this for quite
Some time

Doesn’t this wear you down?
Over and over it plays on
Repeat: Some days we’re good,
Most days we’re bad

I’m sure you know. We
Cannot be fixed
Not until you
Pick up the pieces of
Yourself first.
