“Dream up a dragon”

They told me I’ve been
Skipping times when all I
Really do is just
Walk backward when they come
Rushing forward
After all, I was
Never the competitive type

All around me, time is
Money and and money is gold
And life revolved around them
Meanwhile, I was too busy
Bending spoons and daydreaming
Dragons, demons and dwarfs
Perhaps I’d write them all down
One day

Cotton candy skies and
Glossy depictions of
Slices of life in print
And in the web — they do reel me in
No, I won’t lie
But…

But I can’t help but think,
Sometimes before I drift
Off to sleep or
Right in the middle of my
Nightly prayers

I can’t help but think,
Isn’t there more to life than these?

Surely, there is
I know I’m not alone
When I ponder on this.

I see cotton candy clouds. #sky #clouds #afternoonsky
