This Week’s Haikus, Halloween Edition

To celebrate Halloween drawing near, I decided to whip up a batch of haikus from Merriam-Webster’s Top 10 Unusual Phobias, Vol. 1. I picked three and matched them with some well-known scary stories/urban legends.

“Hypnophobia*The morbid fear of sleep.
Freddy Krueger ran
And ran after me in dreams
Sleep? Never ever.

“Taphephobia*Fear of being buried alive.
Bloody Mary died
But not when she was buried
They made a mistake.

“Eremophobia*The morbid dread of being alone.
The clock shrieks at three
Be wary of what you don’t
See but hear and feel.
